Brother Bernice (Burn-iss), spoke at the Trenton Missionary Baptist Church's first Hunter's Fellowship meeting. He told us a story about a young marine who went hunting with them on their hunting club land. The young man told a story about the time out in Montana when he had shot a deer that was running at full speed 900 yards away and when he got to the deer he found a clean shot right through the deer's heart.

Brother Bernice, not wanting to call him a liar, told him a story of his own. Brother Bernice went on to tell this story.....He had been hunting once and hit a deer, but didn't kill it. It ran into the woods and Bernice followed. When he got to the place where the deer had disappeared into the woods he found blood. He followed the trail and the deer jumped up in front of him and started to run again. Bernice tried another shot, but his gun was empty, so he took out his hunting knife and tore out after the deer. The deer was about to lose him but came to the river and jumped in. Bernice jumped right in on top of him and got ahold of him in the water and took his huntin' knife and cut its throat and that finished him off.

While Bernice was dragging that deer out of the woods, what do you think he stumbled upon? Laying there in front of him, dead, was the deer he had shot at earlier.
