Mama and Daddy are sitting in front of Lem and Ann Harper. This is a picture that was on display among many others at Lem's funeral a couple of years ago. When I saw this picture, a flood of memories rushed into my mind. Dad and Lem worked together for years at Blendspun and they had become good friends. Lem and Ann spent alot of time with my parents. They eventually went in together on a piece of land and a trailer down at Maribel in Pamlico county. From this fish camp between Harper Point and Smith Creek, they fished and crabbed and cooked and laughed and enjoyed time together and with each other's families. We have lots of good memories surrounding that place, mom and dad, the Harpers and the others who came to visit.

Years after her Dad's funeral, I got a chance to ask Verna Harper Sebald if she would send the photo for me to scan. It just came last week, so now I can share it with you. Verna and Karen tell me that this picture was taken at Hammock's Beach State Park on Bear Island. I don't remember the particular day, but I recognize the clothes Mom and Dad are wearing. I do remember the good times we had back in those years and lots of good times since then.

We miss Lem and Ann. This picture brings back alot of memories and it reminds me to cherish the precious days we have been given to enjoy those we hold dear.
